Fiber Laser Marking Machine Buying Guide with Feature Comparison with UV Laser Marker

In this episode, we’re diving into the world of desktop Laser Marking, focusing on three distinct types of lasers. Each of these lasers has a similar footprint and appearance, but they serve different purposes and excel in various applications.

Fiber Laser Marking Machines

Let’s start with our Fiber Laser. This laser is specifically designed for marking metal. It can engrave on a variety of metals, including aluminium, stainless steel, mild steel, and lead. The Fiber Laser is renowned for its ability to produce extremely detailed markings on metal surfaces, making it the go-to choice for high-precision metal engraving.

Mopa Laser

Next, we have the Mopa laser. Like the Fiber Laser, the Mopa is also intended for metal marking. However, it comes with an exciting feature: the ability to change the frequency to produce different colour outputs on the engraved item. Whether you want blue, green, or shades of purple, the Mopa laser can achieve this by adjusting the frequency, allowing for multi-coloured engravings within the same logo or design. This capability sets the Mopa laser apart, offering a unique and visually appealing touch to metal engravings.

UV Laser

Lastly, there’s the UV laser. Unlike the Fiber and Mopa lasers, the UV laser is incredibly versatile, and capable of marking almost any substrate with exceptional precision. It can engrave on wood, metal, glass, plastics (including PP), mirrors, paper, and cardboard. The UV laser’s versatility makes it ideal for a wide range of applications, from detailed engravings on delicate materials to robust markings on tougher substrates. However, it does not offer the colour-changing feature that the Mopa laser does.

Choosing the Right Laser for Your Needs

When deciding which desktop laser to choose, consider your specific marking needs:

  • Fiber Laser: Best for high-precision metal marking.
  • Mopa Laser: Ideal for those who want to add colour to their metal engravings.
  • UV Laser: Offers the most versatility, capable of marking various substrates with high precision.
