Signage is still a very popular means of advertising. Take a walk up the road, drive on the highway or go to the shopping centre, and you will see signs along the way. In today’s video, we show you how to make a large multipanel vinyl sign on a chromadek board, with a steel frame, using a Large Format Printer and Laminator.
The first step is the design of the sign, which can be created using the design program of your choice. The design must be bold, have all important information and be easy to read.
Because the dimensions of the design is bigger than the standard size of chromadek, we need to break up the design into 3 separate pieces, so that we are able to achieve the large size. Once the design is broken up, it is ready to print. We suggest using one of our Large Format Printers, which offer high-quality prints. Since this print will be outside, we will be using a UV printer as this will allow the print to not be damaged by the sun.
Now that each panel is printed, we use a laminator to apply a mat lamination, which removes any glare from the sun. The lamination also protects the print.
We now need to install the frame on the field as well as the chromadek backing to the frame.
Lastly, we are now ready to apply the vinyl, which must be done carefully.
Thanks to the long-lasting properties of vinyl, and the UV printer, this sign is going to be in top shape for years to come.
