Today, we’ve got an exciting new machine to showcase — the 1.7 Single-Phase Oil Heater Roll-to-Roll Heat Press, ideal for sublimation printing. We are in the process of handling some urgent jobs, including a fabric banner that’s 7 meters by 3 meters, so let’s get into the details.

Installation and Setup
Before we could even begin using the 220V 9kW Oil Heating Roller Heat Press machine, we had to take care of the power setup, which is crucial for smooth operation. Following recommendations from the manufacturer, we installed a 10 mm cable connected to a 41-amp minimum breaker on our board. This ensures stable power delivery to the machine.
It’s important to note that the Heat Press machine must be connected directly to an isolator switch, bypassing Earth leakage due to the high amperage. This way, if there’s an overload, it trips at the isolator instead of causing any hazards, such as fires.
Along with the machine, we received a toolbox containing essential tools like spare relays and bolts. These were helpful in getting the machine up and running.
Control Panel Breakdown
Now that it’s powered, let’s go over the control panel:
- Power Indicator: This shows when the machine is on.
- Switches: Three switches control the power, heating, and rolling functions.
- Temperature Control: You can adjust the current and set temperatures with the “set” button. Be mindful to roll back your blanket once the temperature drops below 80°C to prevent damage.
- Inverter Roller Speed Adjustment: Adjust the direction and speed of the roller to control the fabric flow.
- Waste Paper Take-Up Roller: This roller collects the waste paper that comes out after pressing, and the tension is adjustable to prevent creases.
The setup also includes two rollers for the printed paper, tension bars for keeping the fabric aligned, and tension arms to ensure smooth material flow.
Unique Features and Safety
One feature we particularly love is the handle mechanism for opening the machine, which prevents accidental damage. There’s also an emergency stop button on either side of the machine for immediate shutdown in case of any issues.
The machine’s design allows easy access for maintenance, with inspection holes and greased bearings readily available for re-greasing. This is a time-saver when performing routine maintenance on the mat tensioning system.
Job Workflow and Materials
The first job we are working on is a fabric banner. Here’s a quick look at the process:
- The artwork from the client needs to be divided and stitched together to create the 7-meter by 3-meter banner.
- We use a 120 GSM sublimation paper for printing and a 200 GSM mini mat fabric for the banner. The mat material is non-reflective, ensuring the artwork is visible from any angle without light reflections.
Final Thoughts
For this rush job, we initially used MDF and cork for the front, but due to the heat, they melted — a reminder of why glass-only should be used with high temperatures. Currently, we’ve set the machine to 230°C at half speed, since that’s the profile for our ink. After a few tests, the settings seemed to work perfectly.
