Today we are unboxing and assembling the P-2360 Gantry CNC Plasma Cutting Machine from AM.CO.ZA. Plasma cutting is a process for cutting steel and metal of different sizes and thicknesses using a plasma torch. The P-2360 Gantry CNC Plasma Cutting Machine comes semi-assembled, all you have to do is assemble the guide rails, which is an easy process. The process involves connecting the rails together and tightening them with an Allen key. The rails are then placed onto the Plasma Cutting Machine, and then secured into place. The doubled sided support rails, provide more support to the cutting head to offer more accurate and stable cutting. It is also now possible to create wider cutting tables, to allow for 2 to 2.2m of cutting width, which is more than the standard. Thanks to the extra width of the locally manufactured table cutter, there is no need for extra space for the arm to retreat back to position.
During plasma cutting, the inert gas or compressed air is ejected at high speed from the nozzle and an electrical arc is made from the gas in the nozzle to the surface to facilitate the cutting. The plasma is sufficiently hot to melt the metal that is being cut and it also moves fast enough to blow the cut metal away from the cut. In the past, this has required high voltages which generally meant that three-phase circuits were necessary.

The parts conveniently come in sections, these are placed and secured onto the leg frames. Then, the legs support brackets are secured onto the main unit with bolts. From here, a waterproof boding needs to be used to ensure that the nuts and bolts are waterproofed. Then the next unit can be attached!
