How To Make a Multicolour Vinyl Signboard with a Vinyl Cutter and Lamination from AM.CO.ZA – Full Video Demo!

In today’s video, we show you how to create a multicolour vinyl Chromadek signboard, which is then laminated and applied to a vehicle gate. In a previous video, we demonstrated how to create a Chromadek UV Laminated board, and today’s video is equally as exciting. Watch the below video on YouTube for a full breakdown of how to go about creating a multicolour vinyl Chromadek signboard for your clients or business!

Let’s break down the steps:

We start off by breaking up the design in your chosen design software into different sections so that we can print different parts on different coloured vinyl. The design also needs to be vectorised so that the colours can be set correctly.

Next, we are ready to do the printing and vinyl cutting, using an AM.CO.ZA Vinyl Cutter with Laser Eye Enabled Automatic Contour Cutting.

Now that our Blue, Black and Red Vinyl has been cut in our Vinyl Cutter, parts that won’t be used are pealed away and then the laminate backing tape is applied over the remaining artwork so we can applicate on the gate.

Once all the artwork has been laminated and applied with backing tape. There are two options to apply the vinyl to the chromadek. If there is a nice border, you can apply the vinyl as you know you won’t go skew, and no water is needed. But you can’t move it once applied as there is nothing to prevent it from sticking to the board. If there are lots of parts to apply and you don’t have the luxury of being able to remove the vinyl if skew, apply some sunlight soap and water mixture spray on the board, and then the application tape is peeled back and the vinyl applied. This mixture lets you move the vinyl to ensure that the vinyl is in place before using a squeegee to apply the vinyl firmly. It is best to start with the largest pieces of vinyl and work your way down to the smallest piece. Don’t forget to let the water dry before using the squeegee.

Now we are ready to laminate on the board, to protect the board for years to come. We are using our AM.CO.ZA‘s popular Rollman Laminator to get the job done.
