In the world of printing, one of the biggest causes of printing failure is damage to the Printhead. What is the most common way for a Printhead to get damaged though? Because knowing this cause would allow one to hopefully prevent it from happening in the first place. Otherwise, you would need to visit Buythis.co.za to buy a new Printhead should yours get damaged!
In the below video, we inform you on this cause, and how to prevent it from happening. So what are you waiting for, watch the below video, or feel free to read on:
The most common error that causes damage to the Printhead, is when ink finds its way through the cables that are connected to the Printhead, leaks, and causes a short. The data cables that come from the motherboard, connect to the Printhead’s circuit board via two cables. Let’s take a look at a damaged Printhead:
In the below Printhead, you can see the circuit board. Even if the smallest amount of ink finds its way onto the circuit board, it can cause a short circuit and blow the Printhead circuit board. To prevent this from happening, our technicians use special tape to isolate the connections between the cables and the Printhead, to lessen the chance of ink getting through. This task is tedious.
To help reduce the workload on our technicians, and provide a longer-lasting Printhead, we are proud to announce the launch of our Presealed Printhead and connection seal. A specialised CNC machine is used to join the cables onto the Presealed Printhead, and then a specially formulated rubber silicone is applied over the connection points to seal the points from ink getting out. The rubber silicone has a great chemical stability against solvents from all kinds of ink. It is also super adhesive, adding to the sealed Printheads’ effectiveness. This reduces the chances of ink getting through. While the method from our technicians, is still effective, this new offering is even better and drastically cuts down on production. The new Presealed Printhead is now exclusively available from AM.CO.ZA.
We don’t recommend attempting to add silicone to your own Printhead, as this won’t yield the same results. You could also cause circuits to be open, which would stop the flow of data from the printhead to the motherboard. Best to leave this to the professionals!
