Professional Machine Installation Inside Machine.Africa’s Process

Professional Machine Installation: Inside Machine.Africa’s Process

As the technical division of AM.CO.ZA, Machine.Africa plays a critical role in ensuring that every machine is properly installed, configured, and ready for production at the client’s premises. Their hands-on approach ensures that customers not only receive their equipment but also gain the knowledge needed to operate it.

On-Site Installation of an ATC CNC Router

In this example, the team installs an ATC EasyRoute CNC router, a powerful machine designed for precision cutting and automated tool changes. The installation process begins with assembling and integrating all essential components required for smooth operation.

Core Components Setup

A standard installation includes several key systems:

  • Dust Collector System
Equipped with a dual-column vacuum suction setup, this system removes debris and keeps the workspace clean during operation.
  • Water Pump and Plumbing
The water pump is installed along with its plumbing to support cooling and other machine functions where required.
  • Main Machine Connection
The dust collector, water pump, and CNC machine are all connected to a central control box, ensuring synchronized operation.

Power and Electrical Requirements

The control box must be connected to a three-phase electrical supply, which is the client’s responsibility to provide. This is a crucial step, as the machine relies on stable and sufficient power to function correctly.

Mechanical Preparation and Calibration

Before operation begins, several important mechanical adjustments are made:

  • Lubrication
Lubricant oil is applied to ensure smooth movement of mechanical components.
  • Levelling the Machine
Adjustable feet are fitted to each leg of the machine, allowing technicians to level the table perfectly with the floor.
  • Air Regulator Installation
An air regulator is installed to control pneumatic functions, which are essential for certain machine operations.

Programming and Tool Configuration

Once power is established, the technicians move on to programming the machine. A major focus here is on configuring the automatic tool changer (ATC):

  • All 16 tool positions are programmed and tested
  • Tool change operations are verified for accuracy and reliability

This ensures that the machine can switch between tools seamlessly during production, maximising efficiency.

Testing and Commissioning

After setup and programming, the machine is put through a test run to confirm that all systems are functioning correctly. This step validates both the mechanical setup and the software configuration.

Client Training and Handover

Installation doesn’t end with a working machine. Machine.Africa technicians conclude the process by training the client on basic operating procedures. This includes:

  • Understanding machine controls
  • Running basic jobs
  • General maintenance practices

This hands-on training ensures that clients can confidently begin production immediately.
